Meghan got to the bedroom doorway a few seconds behind Dean. “What are you doing?” she asked.

“You said you weren’t sure. I’m gonna help you get sure. Come in here.” He picked up her electronic tablet and set it on the dresser. That freed up the entire queen-sized bed.

Dean pulled his shirt over his head, and she sucked in a breath. His body was incredible. It was like he’d been photo-shopped.

“Okay, now I’m sure. It’s too soon for me.”

He cocked a brow. “I’m a disappointment?” he asked, walking to her.

“Yeah, sure. You must get that all the time. Who wants perfection, after all?”

He tipped her face up and kissed her so incredibly deeply and forcefully that it staggered her. She bumped into the dresser, unable to keep her balance. His hands grabbed her hips and pulled her back to him.

His muscles were so hard. Every part of him was. 

She slid her arms around his neck, pressing against him. The feel of him intoxicated her. The kiss went on and on until she felt hot and extremely turned on. He was amazing.

Then he unzipped her skirt and pushed it down. She froze as it drifted to the floor. He pulled back and sat on the bed, which was right behind him. Things were so close in her little house.

“Take everything off.”

She sucked in a breath. Wow. He wasn’t playing around. On the other hand, she really liked that about him. What should she do? Send him home? Or let him stay? She should send him home, but she wanted to let him stay.

“We could get comfortable,” she said softly. “I’d feel more comfortable if we turned off all these bright lights and got in bed.”

“Why turn off the lights?”

“For reasons that someone with your body would never understand,” she murmured.

He stood, unzipped his pants and pulled her hand to his erection. Lord, he was very hard and appealing all over.

“This is how I feel about your body,” he said. “Take off your clothes.”

Anxiety and desire warred within her. “Couldn’t I just—?”

“No, gorgeous, that’s not how things work with me.”

She gazed into his eyes, her fingers closing around him.

“Tease me at your own risk,” he said, his voice low and dangerous.

“I want you to stay, but I’ll only be able to relax and enjoy things if you let me do things my way.”

“I doubt that.”

She tightened her grasp and stroked up and down slowly. He tipped his head back, closing his eyes. She would convince him. He’d get worked up and agree to her terms.

“Know what happens to girls who don’t do what they’re told?”

“What?”

“They get spanked.”

Her hand froze. She swallowed, her heart pounding, and she licked her lips. He had not said that like he was joking. “Are you serious?”

“Yes, very,” he said, opening his eyes and looking down at her. 

She wanted to run; she just couldn’t decide whether she wanted to run away from him or to him. A little of both she guessed.

“Have you done that to anymore in the past?” she asked, still stunned that he’d threatened to spank her. On their first date. He acted like it was completely normal behavior. Maybe for him it was. Did other women just…let him? She couldn’t help wondering what that would be like. Not that she planned to agree to it or anything. How could she? It wasn’t appropriate for someone like her to allow that to happen.

“Yes,” he said.

It took her a second to remember what she’d asked. Oh, right, he was answering the question about whether he’d spanked a woman in the past. 

“And what happened?” she whispered.

I don't know where ideas come from, but I will credit the internet with providing some really gorgeous images from which to draw inspiration.

The main character of my next story is a full-figured redhead who works diligently as a physicist and associate professor. The last thing she expects is to become involved with one of the most powerful men on campus, the celebrated football coach. 

She's also surprised to learn that Dean expects to be able to punish her the old-fashioned way whenever he decides she deserves it. She really wishes she wasn't so intrigued by that idea.

Stories: Single Malt or Blended?

For me, romance & erotica are at opposite ends of a continuum, starting at "sweet romances" and ending with pure erotica.

In the sweet romances, Boy meet girl, Boy loses girl, Boy gets girl back and they live happily ever after. Steamy scenes happen behind closed doors, and the reader doesn't see them. 

Next we have romances that include the sex scenes with varying amounts of frequency and detail. Things other than sex, however, take up most of the story.

In erotic romances, the main story is the love story, but the reader is also treated to plenty of graphic sex and the sexual relationship is really integral to the story line.

Next, there is what I think of as romantic erotica. The story isn't a love story in the classic sense. The main thrust (pun intended) is developing and exploring the characters' sexuality. In romantic erotica, an emotional attachment or fondness exists between the characters. And while you may not know whether the characters will live happily ever after, you know they'll live happily or contentedly for at least awhile.

Finally there is pure erotica that usually focuses on a character's erotic journey and an exploration of her sexuality. Power dynamics and sometimes dark and toxic relationships come into play, but not always. There is no love story. Sometimes I think the character will find peace and happiness. Sometimes I hope she finds a good therapist.

I personally love erotic romances and romantic erotica. I like to see characters struggle; their conflicts are interesting. But I also want them to have at least a "happy for now" ending. It doesn't mean they have to be living the life I would want to live. In some cases, they're definitely not. The unconventional lifestyle just has to work for them.

One author whose work I love is Emily Tilton. Her story, the very hot Shared by the Billionaires, explores a girl's complete sexual submission and willingness to be the prized possession of a wealthy and powerful--though not particularly likable--man. Her owner shows her off and provides her for use to his equally powerful friends. And at the basest level, the girl likes it. Being a desirable object turns her on. In the story, she meets a much more appealing man who is interested in using her for pleasure and then in buying her. I suspect some readers might object to the premise, but I enjoyed the story so much! Ms.Tilton is so skilled at making difficult-to-pull-off stories fascinating, titillating, and entertaining. Frankly, I think she's amazing.

So for me, yes to blending. Erotic romance & romantic erotica are my reading materials of choice. And yes, yes, yes to the work of Emily Tilton.

About Me

What's my personal story?

I love sexy romances and always have. I like reading them. I like writing them. I like living them.

I remember years ago that I read a historical romance where the hero spanked the heroine, and I thought, I liked that part. Why did he promise to never do that again? Maybe she'd like him to. 😉 So I suppose it's no surprise that I eventually gravitated toward stories that featured elements of domination and submission, domestic discipline, and other kinks. 

In 2013, I wrote two stories. One was about a woman who wanted her husband to dominate her and about how their life evolved once he did. It wasn't a long story, only about 10,000 words. I polished it, created a cover for it, and even had it formatted. Then I wrote a full length novel about a private BDSM club and polished that. But with two stories ready, I decided I wasn't sure I was prepared to be a published author. So I set the stories aside in a folder on my laptop and left them alone.

Fast forward to this year when I got the urge to write a prequel to the story about the BDSM club. When I did, it opened the flood gates to reading a lot of erotic romances and writing several more. Finally, when I had 5 stories finished and a couple of others well on their way, I decided to submit a story to an online publisher that I buy a lot of books from.

The wonderful publisher accepted my first story, which I expanded at their suggestion. Now I'm on my way. And I feel quite excited to see my books released. Not too much longer, world!

Hello, fellow readers of kinky fiction :)

If you haven't read any of Trent Evans's work yet, I want to highly recommend it to you. He's one of my favorite authors. I started with his Surrender Valley series, which I will do a separate post on, and then started to work my way backward. (Isn't it fantastic when you find a writer whose work you love and he or she has a backlist? Best thing ever!)
